MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Welcome to the Canadian Neuromodulation Society.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Canadian Neuromodulation Society (CNS). Therapeutic neuromodulation is defined as the alteration of nerve activity through targeted delivery of a stimulus, such as electrical stimulation or chemical agents, to specific neurological sites in the body for restoring function or relieving symptoms that have a neurological basis. The CNS is a non-profit group of clinicians and scientists dedicated to improving patients lives through neuromodulation.  Our mission is to educate each other, healthcare providers and the public about the potential of neuromodulation for an increasing number of indications including movement disorders, pain, epilepsy, bowel and bladder control. We also support research into new and improved neuromodulation therapies, while striving to improve access to neuromodulation technology across Canada to patients in need.

Over the coming years it is important that we continue to grow as a society and advocate for our patients.  We can do this through interprovincial and international research collaborations, sharing our valuable and unique experiences, and highlighting our successes in improving our patients lives.

Neuromodulation is an exciting field. I encourage you to join the Canadian Neuromodulation Society so that we can continue to teach each other and help more and more patients. Our annual meeting is the culmination of the years scientific and teaching activities, and a great opportunity to share ideas with colleagues from across Canada and around the world. Our recent annual meeting in Niagara-on-the-Lake from September 21 to 23, 2023 was a resounding success with physicians, surgeons, researchers, allied healthcare providers, and students contributing to a high level of scientific discourse. The CNS also organizes three to four virtual journal clubs every year to update its members about recent cutting-edge research in neuromodulation. The semiannual CNS newsletter keeps our members informed about the latest developments in neuromodulation in Canada and around the world.

Come join us as we work together to improve the quality of lives of our patients through neuromodulation!
