Welcome to the Canadian Neuromodulation Society.
It is a great privilege to serve as President of the Canadian Neuromodulation Society and to work with such a dedicated community of clinicians, scientists, allied health professionals, and trainees from across Canada.
Neuromodulation is an exciting and rapidly evolving field. As a Society, our goal is to advance research, education, clinical care, and new technology, while strengthening teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration. Allied health professionals are an essential part of this community, and we also want to continue building strong connections with other Canadian organizations and with neuromodulation societies around the world.
I want to thank the past president as well as the board members and supporting staff for their incredible work over the last years, which was especially highlighted at our recent Annual Meeting, held in Calgary from September 17–19, 2026. It was an excellent example of what can be achieved through collaboration. We were delighted to welcome colleagues from the Swiss neuromodulation community as our invited society. Over the past several years, our partnerships with neuromodulation societies from the United Kingdom and Ireland, Germany, and Switzerland have added tremendous value to our meetings, creating opportunities for scientific exchange, new friendships, and international research collaboration. We hope to build on these relationships in the years ahead.
Looking forward, I see three important priorities for our Society. We want to support Canadian participation in the International Neuromodulation Society registry for spinal cord stimulation, helping us generate high-quality data and better understand outcomes across Canada. We also want to create more opportunities for trainees and early-career neuromodulators to become involved in research, develop collaborations, and receive mentorship. Finally, we need to continue working to improve access to neuromodulation for patients across Canada and create clearer pathways between community care and specialized neuromodulation programs.
Our next Annual Scientific Meeting will take place in Halifax from October 21–23, 2027, together with colleagues from the Benelux neuromodulation community. I am already looking forward to welcoming everyone to Halifax for another meeting focused on science, education, innovation, and collaboration.
The strength of the Canadian Neuromodulation Society comes from its members and from the different perspectives and expertise that they bring. I encourage everyone with an interest in neuromodulation to become involved, share ideas, support our younger colleagues, and help shape the future of our field.
Together, we can continue to advance neuromodulation and, most importantly, improve the lives of the patients we serve.
